What is balloon modelling? Balloon modelling or balloon twisting or balloon sculpting is the shaping of special modelling balloons into almost any given shape, often a balloon animal   but variety of shapes that could be modelled  is limited only by imagination of the balloon artist who  does the modelling. People who create balloon animals and other twisted balloon sculptures are called Balloon Twisters, Balloon Sculpting Artists.

Two important tools of balloon twisting are special balloons and inflation device.  The Special balloons are made in various colors and are very long and very narrow and are called modelling balloons.  Balloons are classified according to sizes and are identified by a number. The most common balloons used are “160” and “260” which means that they have 1 and 2 inches in diameter respectively and have 60 inches in length and hence the names.

Balloon models can be made from just one balloon but there are models that demand two or more. Single balloon sculptures are basic four-legged animals like a poodle, giraffe, monkey , bear, hat, sword , flower among others. Some of the multi-balloon models are: monkey on palm tree, flowers, octopus and turtle.

A customer had approached us for a balloon decoration to celebrate a New born baby boy and he had chosen one of our decoration images. After we quoted our rates, the customer did not confirm the job. 

Later after a week, a local balloon decorator approached us for the "deco bubble balloons" used in the floating arch in the image. He was carrying our image without knowing it belonged to us. He did not even know the name of the product and was asking for 'big white balloons' while the product is known as 'deco bubbles'. 

This enquiry was again for a ' new born baby boy' celebration at the same venue and on the same date!! so we understood that the same customer had approached this decorator. 

First of all this decorator  did not know the name of the product. 

Secondly many decorators do not  even know how to use deco bubbles and modelling balloons . 

Thirdly, these deco bubbles need Helium. This decorator claims that he has Helium suppliers in town who can inflate balloons with Helium. Its a lie. No one else, except us,  uses Helium in balloons, as far as we know. Many in India , use the flammable and explosive Hydrogen gas, to make the balloons float. They illegally use Hydrogen as it costs 1/20th of the cost of Helium!

Fourthly, coming back to the cost part, in the image we have used 8 deco bubbles that costs Rs200 per balloon for the floating arch. Then we have used 10” white, 5” white, 12” polka dot printed balloons , Light Blue modelling balloons ( that comes in 100s bag and costs over Rs450) , white modelling balloons( that again comes in 100s bag and costs Rs450) , Crescent moon foil balloon  ( that costs Rs250 each) , Yep its a boy foil balloon ( Rs175) and a super shape baby foil balloon that costs Rs250 each . 

So we hardly need to point out that its impossible to create  a visually stunning decoration with balloons, at a lesser cost.

Event on the 6th April at a leading hotel in our City. Occasion is first birthday girl.  Event manager convinced the customer to accept gold and red color balloons , reason he only had gold and red LED lights to make a banner. Note: Its not the customer's choice but the event manager's!!

What has the event manager promised the customer? 4 balloon poles , one arch and 6 sets of Helium bouquets for Rs10000. He said he had great difficulty convincing the customer to accept this budget stating he is going to use imported balloons and the customer expected more number of balloons for this price.

We on our part suggested as shown in the image 

This is how the event manager responded: " dont want all those accents, foil balloons... just make simple columns with only round balloons . Customer doesnt know anything about foil balloons or how incomplete the columns will look without foil balloons... customer expects 'more quantity'  than 'quality' and so just fill more balloons and match it with the budget!" Onceagain I could see my logic was not what he wanted to hear. We at bubbly balloons refused to accept the job as we do not do substandard balloon decoration jobs!   

Onceagain , we wonder why people flock to such knucklehead event managers?
